Australian wildflowers and sashiko stitching

I thought you might enjoy seeing this quilt.  Rhonda Lyons made it.  She is one of the sashiko teacher’s listed in our Resources > Teachers section.

The quilt blocks are made using Sylvia Pippen’s Australian Wildflower pattern series.  The background fabric is Australian indigenous fabric print.

While I’m thinking about Syvia Pippen sashiko patterns here are a few more pictures:

My version of the Sashiko and Butterflies Pattern.

Three of the North American Wildflower series (I used wool fabric).  The patterns say these are quilt blocks but that doesn’t mean you have to make a quilt with them :-) ….

The Plumeria Blossom pattern made into a candle mat.

This is Julie Burn’s table topper. She added a wide sashiko stitched area to the Coreopsis block pattern.

I made a wool bag using the Echinacea block pattern. All these patterns are available online at www.athreadedneedle.com.  So is the wool I used here.

Julie Burn’s used one of Sylvia Pippens wall hanging patterns to make her own project. This time she used the Honu Turtle pattern, added a batik background and sashiko stitched border make a bath mat

There you go, that’s all I’ve got to say! :-)

Cheers

Susan
